The University of Coimbra was established in 1290. It is one of the oldest universities in the world, the oldest university in Portugal and one of the country’s largest higher education and research institutions. The Portuguese public university is located next to the old Royal Palace in the historic centre of Coimbra city, Portugal.
One of the first Archa’s freestanding display cases was made for the University of Coimbra carrying out the order of Archa’s Portuguese client Smart Vitrinas. The case was made with special top LED panel lighting and height adjustable glass shelves.
Photos, taken by Archa before the delivery of the display case to the client, show the advantages of this type of lighting. A uniform illumination of the entire surface without glare makes the exhibited items shine.
